Sailing in Vancouver

It's cheaper than what I thought it would be. A 7 metre Cal20 (see photo) costs $2000-$4000 and mooring in a fresh water marina (saves expenses for cleaning the hull) near the airport (20 min drive from downtown) is $150 a month. It's not free, but this is fairly central and a higher end marina. Moorage in Lisbon would be more expensive (mooring costs were higher than this when I checked, and that was 10 years ago). There must be much cheaper marinas and anyway, initially we should get a smaller dinghy so we don't have to pay for the mooring. Sailing clubs typically allow you to keep it on the trailer on land for free or very little a year - the light boat can easily be pulled to the water on foot.
