The Ice Spiker is a winter tire. With its 304 tungsten spikes, it makes it possible to ride safely over packed snow and even ice. And if the snow melts, it rides just fine on tarmac too although I read it is a bit noisy. That's why the spikes are made of super hard tungsten rather than steel. I am pretty excited about the prospect of cycling throughout the Winter! At $50 per tire, it pays for itself pretty quick (the bus pass is now $81 a month). According to reviews, the spikes survive at least two winters.
