The GPS tells us that the department of music is 3.7 Km from Hawthorne Road (in a straight line). The 9C bus to uni stops just around the corner. It takes 15 min to get to uni and, and it goes on to the centre (another 15 min to get there).
There is a large mall which is a 10min walk from home, a 7-11 (convenience store) and a video rental store right in our street. The mall has an amazing second hand shop. Just saw a great leather winter coat with fur, looking almost brand new, for $20 (£10 / €13)! There is also Dollarama, a dollar shop ("loja dos trezentos", "pound shop"), a grocery store with 27 different types of bread and a gym.
Today there was a seagull near the mall. Perhaps a New Yorker visiting friends?
Our location is actually not half as bad as I thought. We are not close to the centre compared with other places, but London is a very compact city.
